Some are longtime favorites while others have only recently opened their doors. All of these pizzerias, however, are dishing up pies we think you'll love.
Federici's: The Federici family has been serving up thin-crust pizza and "unsurpassed" hospitality for the better part of a century, now with locations in Belmar, Freehold and Howell.
Talula's, Asbury Park: Once described as a "Hipster Hangout," Talula's puts a new twist on 'za. "Green Eggs," for example, is cabot cheddar, chimichurri eggs, red potatoes, chives and mazi.
Zoni's Coal Fired Pizza, Red Bank: Customers are raving about the new owner, Rob, along with the crispy crust, sauce and "perfectly-melted" cheese.
Vic's Italian Restaurant, Bradley Beach: Founder Vittorio "Vic"Giunco tried several businesses including a fruit stand and candy shop after moving from Italy to the U.S. in the early 1900's. It wasn't until he opened Vic's Tap Room, a local bar on Main Street in the 1930s, that things fell into place. The restaurant has been passed down through the generations and has stayed in the same exact place all these years. Customers keep coming back for more.
Tommy's Tavern and Tap, Sea Bright: This tavern and tap has an entire menu devoted to pizza divided by classics, gourmets, whites and reds.
Medusa's, Asbury Park: Try a wood-fired pizza or a specialty pie, like the Puttanesca: white anchovies, capers, black olives, garlic, parmesan and parsley.
MJ's Restaurant: With six locations across Central Jersey, MJ's has both thin and traditional crusts.
Pete & Elda's Bar / Carmen's Pizzeria, Neptune: The nearly-50-year-old pizza parlor wants you to join the club, the Whole Pie Eater's Club, that is. Finish an entire XXL pie (18 inches in diameter) by yourself in one sitting and win a T-shirt. Not a club you're interested in joining? All good. Share a pie of any size with the table.
Pizza V, Keansburg: That classic boardwalk pizza that so many people were raised on keep them coming back to Jersey for a slice. Or more. Probably many more.
Trevi Pizza & Italian Restaurant, Freehold: Small, local business with thin crusts and heavy toppings.
